When a standalone note app stays the right choice
- You need local files with no server: Obsidian keeps notes as Markdown on your disk, and that is the point of it.
- The knowledge base is run by a team: Notion has permissions, comments and co-editing - VIO Tray builds a personal space.
- You need to work fully offline, on a plane and without a connection.
- The note is disposable: an SMS code is easier left in the phone app.

“Where did we agree about the contractor” finds the note that never uses the word contractor. That changes the habit itself: notes no longer have to be structured up front.

Common questions
Can I move notes over from Notion or Obsidian?
There is no dedicated importer yet. Text can be moved by copying and files by uploading them to the library. Bulk Markdown import is planned, but we will not promise a date.
What does “search by meaning” mean?
Notes are indexed as vectors, so a query is matched by content rather than by exact words. Plain word search stays too - it is faster when you know the wording.
Can anyone else see my notes?
No. The space is personal, only you have access to the material, and the AI reads it on your request within the sources you selected.
